How to Download and Install – Step by Step Guide
- Prepare your PC: Ensure no older Office version is running. If you have a previous Office installation, uninstall it first to prevent conflicts.
- Download & run setup: Download the installer, run it as administrator, accept UAC prompt if shown, and let setup proceed.

- Complete installation: Once the installer finishes, you’ll see a confirmation message (“You’re all set! Office is installed now”).
- Activate Office: Open any Office app (e.g. Word), and activate: either by signing in to your Microsoft account linked to license, or by entering the provided product key.
Note — if you previously had an older Office, using the official uninstall tool or Windows standard uninstall method prevents conflicts before you install 2024.

64-bit
The installer now defaults to 64-bit. This is crucial for handling large Excel sheets and heavy PowerPoint slides. 32-bit is available but hidden, generally only needed for very old plugin compatibility.
Offline Installer
If you have slow internet, you cannot use the standard “online” installer. You must use the “Office Deployment Tool” (ODT) to download the full image (IMG or ISO file) separately.
This requires using the Command Prompt to tell Microsoft’s servers to “Download” the full package to a local folder before running “Configure” to install it.
